The Friends of the Middleton Public Library helps carry out the library’s mission of fostering a love of learning and providing access to resources for all members of the community. They provide an extra level of support not possible through the library’s normal operating budget.
An elected board of voluneers leads the Friends, and various committees—with the support of library staff—carry out the group’s goals and mission. Money raised through membership dues, fundraisers, and other initiatives allow the library to operate at a higher level by offering additional programs, services, and materials.
($5,500) The annual summer reading program with funding for the kickoff party, volunteer t-shirts, prize books and prize drawings for readers, and program support throughout the summer for all ages!
($8,000) We partner with the Downtown Middleton Business Association to support early literacy and downtown activity. Stop by the library for a free copy of the book and a map of the route!
($5,000) We provide new books and activities for specific events, such as National Night Out, etc.
($1600) – In partnership with the Middleton Cross Plains Area School District and the Madison Library Council, we support dozens of adult English learners through free classes!.

...mindfulness and yoga, and ‘poetry in the park’ for all ages to support connections, friendships, and healthy living.
We support the library staff recognition program!
We support donor stewardship with tools like Little Green Light, and community services like the Middleton Chamber of Commerce Membership. Fun fact – the Friends of the Library have been members of the Middleton Chamber of Commerce for 37 years!
...the Friends Board has approved a request for $24,500 that will allow the library to fund its 2023 Summer Reading Program, 4 Storywalk events in partnership with Downtown Middleton Business Association (DMBA), community outreach events throughout the year, along with support of programming for all ages.
