The Friends of the Middleton Public Library is a group with members from the city and surrounding areas who believe the public library is a valuable asset in the development of their community’s culture, citizenry, and youth. The Friends work with the library staff and library board to enhance and improve library services, materials, programming, and facilities for the Middleton Public Library.

Here are some programming highlights the Friends of the Middleton Public Library has helped to fund in 2022:
  • Youth programming including: Tech programs to support digital literacy, story time activities for a variety of age groups, online book clubs, and virtual escape rooms.
  • Annual Summer Reading Program: including kickoff & completion events, programming, and prizes for 737 adults, teens, and children.
  • Community partnerships with MCPASD, City of Middleton departments including the Senior Center, Tourism, Parks & Rec, the Sustainability Committee, and the Downtown Middleton Business Association through offerings like the very popular StoryWalk, summer park visits, and a summer concert series in the Stone Horse Green.
  • Additional Outreach service including annual events like MOM’s annual backpack giveaway, National Night Out and Cops and Bobbers with the MPD, and the Good Neighbor Festival grounds library table.
  • Adult Programming that supported critical thinking and lifelong learning.
  • Crafts and do-it-yourself activities, mindfulness and yoga, and ‘poetry in the park’ for all ages to support connections, friendships, and healthy living.

For the coming year, the Friends Board has approved a request for $24,500 that will allow the library to fund its 2023 Summer Reading Program, 4 Storywalk events in partnership with Downtown Middleton Business Association (DMBA), community outreach events throughout the year, along with support of programming for all ages.
