The Friends of the Middleton Bookshop
Hours: The shop is open for self service limited sales whenever the library is open.
There are staffed sales on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9:00-3:00, at these times we offer special selected books and other services.
Special Sales are scheduled throughout the year including a Holiday sale, Clearance Sales and others that are advertised as they are scheduled.
All proceeds from our sales are used to support the library through the Friends Organization- Thank You!

Book Donations
The Friends welcomes book donations. You can drop off your donations in the grey plastic bin in the library lobby area. Thank you!

Volunteering Opportunities:
If you want to join the book sorters, you can come to the book sort room located on the lower level of the library across from the Archer room on Wednesday 9:30-12:00. The sorter coordinators are Tim Graham and Jean Devore. Please ask for one of them if it is your first time to sort and they can welcome you and get you started.

If you are interested in helping as book seller, you can sign up for monthly shifts that fit into your schedule. If you want to be emailed for a sorting shift, please send an email to Sara Simpson indicating that you would like to be added as a book sale volunteer. In addition, we have 2 volunteer co-corrdinators for book selling, Nell Mally and Patricia Svendsen. They will meet you in the bookshop to give you an orientation on how to do the book selling duties. They can be reached at Patricia Svendsen and Nell Mally

Interested in becoming a Friends Board Member? The Friends work with the library staff and library board to enhance and improve library services to the community. We work to coordinate volunteers to run the book sales and other fundraisers to provide all the funding for the library programs. In addition, we set policy and make decisions on the best way to support the library and library staff. The Friends of the Middleton Public Library Board typically meets monthly, from September - May; with the May meeting being the annual All Members Meeting. The meetings are usually scheduled on the first Tuesday of the month from 7pm-8pm, and are held at the library. We invite anyone with an interest to attend the board meetings.

If you were interested in joining the Board of the Friends, we'd ask that you come to a meeting to see what the organization is and what the commitment entails. Then we would nominate you for a position and take a vote of current members to officially add you to the Board. Currently we have the following positions open: Vice President- officer and voting position Community Representative (2 spots)

Typically, If you are wanting to join the board, people will give us a bit of background about themselves by sending a short paragraph (or your resume if you prefer) to Karen Natoli in advance, and she will send it to the other board members to read before the meeting. We do not have any requirements to join the board other than an enthusiasm for the library and a commitment to the work described above. From time to time a board member will have to miss a meeting and as long as we have a quorum it is not a problem.
